FOR ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS

May 9 and 10, 2002

Featuring Dr. Ab Stevels

Philips Consumer Electronics, Environmental Competence Center
Professor of Design for Sustainability at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands

Two Workshops in Sequence

May 9 - Presentation:  Design for End-of-Life Management, full day
May 10 - Laboratory work, half day

Dr. Ab Stevels, a world authority on environmental design, will be the instructor for both workshops.  Dr. Stevels is a principal in the environmental design program at Philips Electronics and he teaches “Eco Design for Competitive Advantage” at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands.  He also teaches environmental design at Stanford and Georgia Tech.

These workshops will focus on specific electronic product end-of-life design strategies and trade-offs, and hands-on methods of product analysis including disassembly of two television sets.  The workshop will address detail-level questions.  Reading materials will be provided in advance so that all participants have a common basis in end-of-life management in the U.S. and Europe.
