About the Instructor

Dr. Ab Stevels, a world authority on environmental design, will be the instructor for both workshops.  Dr. Stevels is a principal in the environmental design program at Philips Electronics and he teaches “Eco Design for Competitive Advantage” at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands.  He also teaches environmental design at Stanford and Georgia Tech.

Dr. Stevels taught the very successful Design for End-of-Life Management for Electronic Products seminar here in May.  He combines a far-reaching strategic environmental vision with thorough technical knowledge, presented through a very rich array of case examples.

These workshops will first address the range of environmental issues that are impacted throughout the life cycle of electronic products – material and energy consumption, chemical content and dispersion, end-of-life management, etc. They will then explore a range of strategic implementation issues including integrating ecodesign into business, product care systems, value chain management and green marketing.
