Approaching Zero Waste:  Making things the way nature intended

Booklet

This Zero Waste Booklet explains how to eliminate the concept of waste in your organization. It details the concepts of zero waste and then provides a step-by-step process for achieving it, including quotes and advice and lessons learned by those in the field doing the work. Zero Waste is a critical concept nested within a larger sustainability effort. In many cases, it makes sense to approach sustainability under the banner of “zero waste” since this term emphasizes resource efficiencies and cost savings. Use this booklet in the following ways:

  • To understand the scope and process of a zero waste strategy
  • To identify and prioritize your waste streams
  • To take on zero waste as a project as one of many sustainability-related efforts

The authors of the booklet are

Larry Chalfan, former CEO of Oki Semiconductor Manufacturing and current Executive Director of the Zero Waste Alliance.

Darcy Hitchcock, Darcy Hitchcock is president of AXIS Performance Advisors and author of many of the popular Sustainability Series booklets.

This booklet is one of the “Sustainability Series”, a set of how-to booklets published by AXIS Performance Advisors.
